We’ve observed significant competition within the battery industry, including the expansion of production capacity by major players, the struggles faced by small to medium-sized companies, and the introduction of new technologies such as solid-state batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and advancements in upstream materials.
EV & ESS batteries
These innovations are not limited to electric vehicles but have also been implemented in long-duration energy storage solutions, like sodium-ion energy storage batteries. Consequently, we’ve updated our dataset design to accommodate these new technology combinations and applications.
Although we are still in the process of identifying these combinations from a production perspective, the updates are already reflected in our Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard. Within the manufacturing dashboard‘s control panel, you will find:
- Category menu: Cells and battery packs tagged for EV (Electric Vehicles), ESS (Energy Storage Systems), or both
- Product menu: Options for Sodium-ion, Lithium-ion, and Solid State batteries

Company business segmentation
We are also identifying the business segmentation for each company and expanding our data library to include more stakeholders in each sector—whether they are automakers, battery manufacturers, recyclers, system integrators, or project developers.
This information is already available on the company profile pages, for example, AESC Group Ltd:

As we enrich the company data library, we are paying closer attention to the upstream battery components market, including producers of cathodes, anodes, separators, and electrolytes, to understand their positions in supplying the battery giants. Our goal is to uncover strong or weak supply-chain relationships as we gather more data.
We will continue to keep you updated on app developments and data enhancements. Until next time, thank you!
