We would like to inform you that there will be major app updates in the next quarter. During this period, data backfill and regular updates will be less frequent.

Data coverage

The current data coverage of Li-ion batteries (Cell) is around 90%. Our next steps will focus on improving manufacturing data coverage for:

  • Battery components and recycling
  • Sodium-ion batteries for ESS
  • Solid-state batteries

We have paused updates for renewables deployment to prioritize battery data.

Methodology

We will enforce a stricter methodology, including:

  • Stricter data onboarding criteria to validate the accuracy of information, such as new technologies
  • More granular data and clearer taxonomy

Data sourcing

As per request, I’ve listed three tiers of data sources that I’ve been tracking. We'll add a comprehensive list for the upcoming app updates.

Corporate disclosures:

  • Official website: Useful for identifying industry distribution (e.g., PPES) and researching product specs (e.g., Eve Energy)
  • Annual report and announcements: Monitor corporate activities (e.g., Tinci)
  • IR report: (e.g., LG Ensol conference call for earning releases)
  • ESG report: (e.g., Tinci ESG report)
  • Receiving/inspection report and environment impact assessment: For more granular plant details (e.g., CATL page 23)

Government disclosures:

  • Local communities: (e.g., CATL Luoyang). Note that governments might exaggerate, but it's useful for monitoring the timelines

New outlets:

  • Medias: InsiderEVs, Electrive, WeChat Channel (heavily used by Chinese companies)
  • 3rd Party Research

News outlets make it easier to access data, though it's challenging to keep multiple criteria aligned, and they're not always reliable. Corporate disclosures, especially audited reports, are more trustworthy, though transparency varies by company and market.

Software & platform

We will update the backend and UI/UX design for a better user experience and easier internal management. Significant time will be invested in database migration, API development, and data visualization.
